2. Printing and Templates
Templates are included for printing envelopes, address labels, as well as week and month schedules. Print fonts have not been provided for the demo version because of disk space.
3. Other Read Me files
These files contain useful information on naming companies with multiple locations and using the Sample Binder. The Sample Binder is an example of how to use Rae Assist to organize business and personal information. Open the Sample Binder to June 2, 1993 to examine various links, tags and activities. See the Read Me folder for more details.
Also included are files related to the full version of Rae Assist: Reference Information and Importing Contacts. Rae Assist has powerful import features. You can import into any section, and the Demo version lets you use the Import feature all the way up to the final import stage.
4. Mail Merge
Rae Assist lets you export information from People and Companies sections for printing mail merged letters with your favorite word processor. Here’s an example of how to use mail merge with Microsoft Word™ 5.0:
In Rae Assist, export your contacts from the People or Companies section into a Tab and Return text file with Mail Merge Header checked in the Export Dialog. Be sure not to include the Comments/Notes field in your export if it has carriage returns.
In Word, open your letter, choose Print Merge Helper from the View menu, and select the text file you just exported. You can now insert fields from the text file and keywords into your letter using the pop-up menus below Word’s ruler.
Use the If ... and End If commands to prevent Word from adding extra spaces or carriage returns for fields that are empty. Here’s an example for ommitting a carriage return if the Title field is empty:
«First Name» «Last Name»«IF Title»
«Title»«End IF»
«Company Name»
Print your letters using the options available.
